The Victorian Government’s Sick Pay Guarantee pilot has successfully trialled a nation-first approach to supporting casual and contract workers in more than 600 jobs.

Feedback from workers, business, industry and community has helped to shape the pilot program.

As sufficient evidence has been gathered to evaluate the impact of the program, the pilot will end on 30 June 2024.

Evaluation of the Sick Pay Guarantee pilot is underway. Feedback is welcome via email at sickpayguarantee@ecodev.vic.gov.au.

Eligibility and claims

Registrations for the Sick Pay Guarantee have closed.

Workers who signed up to the Sick Pay Guarantee will continue to be eligible for sick and carer’s pay for work absences up to and including Friday 31 May 2024.

The last date that workers can submit claims for absences up to and including Friday 31 May 2024 is Sunday 30 June 2024.

The pilot program will close on Sunday 30 June 2024.

The Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee pilot provides eligible casual and contract workers with a guarantee they will receive sick pay when they can’t go to work. Because no worker should have to choose between a day’s pay and their health – or the health of a loved one.

The pilot program is fully funded by the Victorian Government. The pilot will run until 30 June 2024.
